Wireshark is a free and open source packet analyzer. It is used for network troubleshooting, analysis, software and communications protocol development, and education. Originally named Ethereal, the project was renamed Wireshark in May 2006 due to trademark issues.

Wireshark is cross-platform, using the Qt widget toolkit in current releases to implement its user interface, and using pcap to capture packets; it runs on Linux, macOS, BSD, Solaris, some other Unix-like operating systems, and Microsoft Windows. There is also a terminal-based (non-GUI) version called TShark. Wireshark, and the other programs distributed with it such as TShark, are free software, released under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

It's a must tool if you want to learn hacking because this tool will help you in sniffing and capturing passwords, cookies. It is a very powerful tool as it provide a lot of features to u like you can change password, extract information and many more.

Wireshark is installed by default in kali linux. You can simply search wireshark and open that .

For Window users :-

Step 1:- Window users first go to its official website and download the package according to system configuration .

Step 2:- Install the package . It's very easy to install it as same as other applications.

After the installation simply open up the shortcut. Your wire shark is ready to use.
